TEAM ROCHE
PÉNÉLOPE ROCHE, Vigneron, Winemaker
Born with wine in her blood, Pénélope counts six generations of viticulture and winemaking at Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion, the small family estate whose elegant wines rival the Crus Classés of Bordeaux.
From oenology and viticulture studies in Bordeaux to winemaking in Spain, New Zealand and Australia, Pénélope brings to the Okanagan a profound and holistic understanding of the grapevine’s relationship with its environment, from a winemaker’s perspective.
Pénélope is also a winegrowing consultant, and teaches viticulture at Okanagan College.

DYLAN ROCHE, Vigneron, Winemaker
Dylan left North Vancouver in 2000 to work as a bicycle mechanic in Burgundy and suffered a conversion experience; a diploma in viticulture and winemaking in Beaune led to apprenticeships in the Côte d’Or, Chablis, and New Zealand. Five years in Bordeaux included teaching oenology and sensory evaluation classes at château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac, and managing a small winery in Margaux. Dylan has been farming vineyards and making wine in the Okanagan Valley since 2011.
DYLAN ROCHE can be contacted at info@rterroir.ca.
OKA, Winery Dog
Oka is the newest member of the Roche Wines family household, she is a Berger Picard dog and loves to chew bones and the occasional vine clipping. When she’s not chewing on a leaf or playing with her ball, she is running through the vineyard checking on the vines and taking care of Roche family members.
OKA can be contacted at info@rterroir.ca.
ED TONNER, Viticulturist, Vineyard Manager
A graduate and a teacher of the Niagara College Winery and Viticulture Program, Ed joins the team with more than 18 years of experience working in the Canadian winemaking regions of the Niagara and Okanagan Valley. A viticulture instructor at Okanagan College for the Viticulture and Wine Studies program, Ed’s passion for sustainable agriculture and his viticulture experience aids in caring for the best possible grapes for our harvest.

MARCO DAVID, Assistant Vigneron
Hailing from Quebec, Marco brings a wealth of experience as he has worked in the wine industry in many countries. Through his studies in viticulture and enology and his time spent in organic and biodynamic wineries such as Tawse and Marcel Deiss in Alsace, his passion is to work alongside like-minded people in both the cellar and vineyard to create the best vines and wines possible. His precious help is very much welcome in our small, growing team.
Most recently, he has taken the Practice of Biodynamics Course offered by CETAB and his Master thesis at Montpellier was on orange wine. When he’s not at Roche, Marco is on his mountain bike or looking for his next camping adventure.
MARCO DAVID can be contacted at marco@rterroir.ca.
